Welcome to Beijing!
When you and your kids land in this fascinating city, your guide and driver will greet you with a smile and take you to the hotel by private car, ensuring a great start to an unforgettable family trip!
Forbidden City, Hutong Alleyways with Traditional Beijing-style Tea Break
Kickstart your first day in Beijing with a visit to Tiananmen Square, a sprawling public plaza located across the street from the Forbidden City. This monumental palace complex is the perfect place for you and your youngsters to learn about China’s history during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with lavishly decorated palaces and halls providing insight into the lives of the royal families. A cute-looking ice pop (or two, own account) in the shape of auspicious animals from the legends will add more fun to your visit!
Later, venture into the zigzagging hutong alleyways to learn about the lifestyle of old Beijinger. Let your kids spend some of their pocket money on meaningful souvenirs such as tu’er ye dolls and recharge your energy with the sweet flavors of cute-looking pastries, cakes, and jellies in the traditional Beijing-style!
The Great Wall Trip incl. Special Evening Visit
An exciting day awaits as you leave Beijing behind for the Mutianyu Great Wall! Winding through mountains and valleys from the eastern coast to the deserts in western China, the Great Wall stands as one of the finest examples of ancient Chinese people’s excellent engineering techniques and wisdom. Consider going on an easy hike on the wall with your youngsters to soak up the gorgeous views. You’ll then take the toboggan – such an exciting way of heading down the Wall!
Afterward, proceed to Gubei Water Town, where after check-in, you’ll discover the charm of this idyllic town with your kids.
In the evening, a short cable car ride takes you to the top of Simatai Great Wall. Lights adorn the sides of the wall and you’ll be greeted by a sweeping view of the Great Wall stretching into the peaceful night.
Gubei Water Town Fun Time, Mutton Hotpot
Discover more of Gubei Water Town with your guide! Featuring cobblestone streets, houses in traditional Ming and Qing style, and stone bridges flying over peaceful streams, this laid-back town creates a wonderful setting for you and your youngsters to relax during a stroll and snap some perfect family photos! For those interested in China’s traditional arts and crafts, consider partaking in fun optional activities (own expense) such as lantern-making, tie-dying, and scented sachet-making – your family will have a wonderful time together!
After getting back to the city by private car, treat your taste buds to delicious mutton hotpot, cooked using a cooper vessel with veggies and mushrooms – all in the Old Beijing way! On your way back to the hotel, capture the exterior view of the Birds Nest and Water Cube, the venues that hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympics!
Giant Panda, Local Market, and Afternoon Tea
Rise early for Beijing Zoo’s lovely Giant Pandas! In the morning, these cuddly creatures are at their most active, and arriving at the zoo earlier means having more time to watch them enjoy their meal!
After snapping a selfie with the pandas, visit a busy market for a closer look at the local culinary traditions. Stroll along the lanes crammed with shops offering everything from meat and veggies to ready-to-eat sesame pancakes, buns with a variety of fillings, and pan-fried chestnuts (own account) and soak up the sounds and scents.
Later, visit the Temple of Heaven, another landmark of Beijing. Once the place where China’s emperors prayed for a bountiful harvest, the architectures are now surrounded by spacious parklands. The day ends with a sweet note as you savor a delicious afternoon tea at a restaurant boasting splendid views!
